=>Worked for the International Monetary Fund Between 1990 to 1995.

=>He was deputation to the Reserve Bank from the  IMF  between 1996-97 where he covered the US , India and Bahamas and Myanmar desk.

=>Later worked with consultant with ministry of power and Department of economic affairs from 1998-2001.

=>Patel has also been director of State Bank of india since feb 2013.
